NEW MEETING OPPORTUNITY
Medina is a big city. It currently has only one Al-Anon
meeting. Beverly P., a longtime member of Al-Anon has recently moved from Parma
to Medina. She is starting a new meeting in Medina. The first meeting is
on June 3, 2010. She is asking
for others in Al-Anon to help get this new meeting ‘off the ground’.
The meeting location is at The Unity Life Enrichment
Center at Williams on the Lake, 787 Lafayette Road (US-42), 4th building back
along the lake (first driveway past Lloyds Barn). It will meet on Thursday at
7:30 PM.

If you would like to help by attending and participating in
this meeting, please e-mail us at
help@afgcleveland.org
or call us at 216-621-1381 (M-F 9:30-3:30) and leave your first name and phone
number (including whether it’s OK to leave a message). Beverly will get back to
you. The information you provide will be held in strict confidence.

WE NEED HELP! - An Al-Anon Service Opportunity
Once again,
we find ourselves in need of help at our downtown office.
If you’ve been active
in Al-Anon for at least 1 year and have some weekday time available,
please consider volunteering your time at our downtown office. Some of
our experienced volunteers are no longer able to continue in this line
of service, therefore new volunteers are needed. Volunteers typically
spend 1 or 2 days per month at the office, Monday through Friday from
9:30 AM to 3:30 PM. Duties include talking with first time callers with
problems, explaining the program basics to them, providing meeting
information, and taking literature orders. Men make up over 30-percent
of our calls for help, and both men and women volunteers are needed.
Our volunteers are offered $8 for each day to cover transportation
expenses.
Our office is located downtown, on Public Square.

Our office location is safe, comfortable and secure. There is
parking and a bus stop nearby. Elevator access. Deli in the
lobby. We have a coffee maker, a small fridge and microwave in the
office itself. The skills required are basically consist of
communication on the phone, locating meetings from local schedules, and
filling out literature orders. Your anonymity is protected at all
times.
To top it all off, the
rewards are GREAT! Just being able to help someone in need find a
meeting or listening while they explain their troubles is a reward
beyond any amount of money!
Please. Give it a
try! Call our downtown office at 216-621-1381 (M-F) (9:30-3:30) or
e-mail us help@afgcleveland.org
.
Leave your first name and phone number, and our Office Volunteer
Coordinator, Louise V. will get back to you.
Please share this notice at your meetings.

Notice to Group Secretaries and Others
who Announce Events
at Our Al-Anon and Alateen Meetings
Please
take a cautious approach on what events to
announce at your meetings.
Be especially cautious of:
-
Events that will occur outside of our NE Ohio
area,
-
Events that require payment to a private
individual,
-
Events that show Al-Anon as being only a
little involved, or not involved at all,
-
Event flyers that are mailed to you from
sources other than our Cleveland Area
Al-Anon Office.
Better to err on the safe side.
We try hard to filter out suspicious
announcements from appearing on this website, appearing in the Hi Lites, and from being mailed with
literature orders. If you see any suspicious announcements on this website,
in the Hi Lites
or that are 'floating around', please contact us.

Please share this notice with your group. |
